Obituaries in Austin, TX | Austin American-Statesman

Nick passed peacefully on April 19th, 2024 in Austin, TX surrounded by his family while Alan Jackson’s “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” played. He was born on July 15th, 1958 in Port Huron, Michigan to the late Theodore and Beverly Jane Wisson. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force which eventually brought him to Austin.

Nick enjoyed anything Michigan except the weather. He was an avid Red Wings and Wolverines fan, even going so far as to state before his passing that he could “die happy now because the Wolverines finally won a National Championship.” In his free time, he enjoyed spending time fixing things around the house, earning the nickname “Tim the Tool Man” due to his handyman abilities and a passing resemblance to Tim Allen in his youth. He also enjoyed being near any body of water whether it be a pool, lake, or beach. But his most favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family, especially getting into trouble with his youngest granddaughter Theodora (named after his late brother) and his “hogs” Zelda and Jett.

He is survived by his two daughters; Delicia (Derek, USAF vet) and Alyssa; two sons, John Abel (Yaref) and Andrew (Marissa); seven grandchildren; Leela, Leslie, Dani, Lyrik, David, Josie and Theodora; three sisters, Kathi and Ron Hepburn, retired USAF (deceased) Jeri and Bob Leonard, retired USAF, Kim and John Coco (deceased). He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Nick is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Ted, who he is looking forward to seeing again.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of his birthday on July 13th, 2024. Please contact deliciawisson@yahoo.com for more information.
